According to the press invite seen above, Nikon will hold a special event on February 7 in Thailand. As Nikon Rumors claims, this might be the official announcment date for the long-rumored 36-megapixel D800.

Pentax today officially announced its newest mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, the K-01 K-mount, and a revised 40mm F2.8 pancake lens. As the Japanese camera maker said, the K-01K-mount is fully compatible with most of the lenses it has ever made. The camera features a 16-megapixel APS-C image sensor, sensor-shift image stabilization, a rear LCD LCD with 920K resolution and can capture photos at up to 6 frames per second. What you see in the pictures below are the first images of an upcoming mirrorless camera from Pentax, the K-01. The photos were first published by Clubsnap.com and later they were posted online by pghwarrior23, a member of Pentax Forum.

Nikon has just announced yet another superzoom compact camera, the COOLPIX L810. Its focal point, of course, is the 26x lens which makes its the equivalent of a 22.5-585 lens in the 35 world. In addition, the superzoom also features a 16.1-megapixel CCD image sensor, which can capture images in low-light conditions. Other features include a 3.0-inch rear LCD display with 921,000 dots, 19 in-camera scene modes, a special 3D mode that simulates an extra dimension in your images, as well as the ability to record HD video at 1,280x720 pixel resolution anbd support for Nikon's VR stabilization technology.

In addition to the Coolpix L810, Nikon also unveiled two entry-level compact cameras, the COOLPIX L26 and L25. For more details check out the full press release below.
